Welcome to AnimeGrades, the report card for everything worth watching, reading, and rewatching.

Every season drops dozens of new shows, and every one of them gets called “the anime of the year” by somebody. AnimeGrades was built to settle the debate. We believe anime deserves the same serious critical eye as any film or prestige TV series, whether it’s a 500-episode shonen epic or a quiet 12-episode slice of life that nobody saw coming.

Our Perspective

We grew up on Toonami after school, bootleg DVDs, and waiting a full week for the next episode. Fast forward to today, and anime is global pop culture. We cover it with the passion of lifelong fans and the standards of seasoned critics. Animation, story, soundtrack, character work, pacing, fights: it all gets graded, and every letter grade is earned.

Our Mission

Whether you’re a newcomer trying to figure out where to start or a veteran who has opinions about which Naruto arcs are filler, we’re here to point you toward what’s actually worth your time. Seasonal breakdowns, series rankings, manga adaptations, and honest takes on the hype. No blind loyalty, no watching 40 episodes before it “gets good” without a warning first.

Our Pulse

Based in New York City, where you can find a ramen spot and a debate about the greatest opening theme of all time on the same block, we’re always looking to connect with studios, creators, and fans who care about the medium as much as we do.
